The Archive of the basilica will resume its activity on Friday 8th of May following Order SND / 388/2020 of 3rd of May, which establishes that certain shops and services may open, the opening of archives and the practice of professional and federated sport.
Abel Rubió, archivist of the basilica, will be working at the Archive on Fridays from 4pm to 8pm, following the usual opening hours. During these period of time, he will resolve all user queries via the email arxiu@seudemanresa.cat. Therefore, it is a resumption of the activity behind closed doors to ensure health security. When the conditions are more favorable, the Archive will reopen its doors to face-to-face searches.
The Archive of the Basilica of Manresa contains a documentary collection of more than three hundred parchments, codices, notebooks and half a thousand bundles from the 11th to the 20th century, all of them of very different content and origin.
It is managed by the Canons Chapter, which has contracted the services of Abel Rubió, with a degree in History and a Master’s in Archiving and Document Management.
