This year, the traditional offering of candles will be maintained, but with changes in dynamics to ensure health security. Offerings can be made on Sunday 13 December from 9am to 2pm and from 4pm to 7pm in the cloister of the basilica.
The parish of Santa Maria de la Seu in Manresa has decided to keep the offering space in one of the galleries in the cloister, but access will be completely controlled. Thus, in front of the Reception Point, there will be a table where you can buy the candles and queue, keeping the established distances, to access the cloister. You can only enter the cloister, which is outdoors, individually or with members of the same family unit. Once the offering has been made, you will leave following the starting line and the next person will be able to enter.
The access doors to the interior of the temple will only be open during Mass hours (11:00 am to 7:00 pm) but it will not be possible to enter from the cloister, which will only be dedicated to the offer of offerings.
Several people in the parish will ensure the correct implementation of this dynamic in order to follow the parameters established to contain the spread of coronavirus.
The day of Santa Llúcia, patron saint of the blind and visually impaired, is traditionally considered the beginning of the Christmas festivities and in Manresa it will coincide with the Christmas market, which this year will be in the Parc de la Seu.
